About Owasso Character
What is the Owasso Character Council?
The Owasso Character Council is a community-based organization committed to strengthening character throughout Owasso. We encourage individuals, families, schools, businesses, and organizations to intentionally practice character in everyday life.
What does “Character Matters” mean?
Character is reflected in the choices we make and the way we treat others. “Character Matters” is a reminder that qualities such as respect, responsibility, compassion, honesty, and perseverance influence our relationships and strengthen our community.
What are the Character Traits?
Owasso Character highlights positive character traits throughout the year. Each trait encourages practical ways to demonstrate character at home, at school, at work, and throughout the community.

Who can participate in Owasso Character?
Everyone! Owasso Character is for individuals of all ages, as well as families, schools, businesses, churches, civic organizations, and other community groups.
F.A.C.T. Families
What is a F.A.C.T. Family?
F.A.C.T. stands for Families Affirming Character Together. The program gives families simple activities and conversation ideas that help make character part of everyday family life.
How does my family become a F.A.C.T. Family?
Choose a Character Trait, complete at least two suggested activities during the week, and submit the F.A.C.T. Family form to share which activities your family completed.
Is there a cost to participate?
No. Becoming a F.A.C.T. Family is free.
Does my family have to complete every activity?
No. The activities are intended to provide ideas and encouragement. Choose the activities that work best for your family.
Can families with children of different ages participate?
Absolutely. The activities and conversations can be adapted for younger children, teens, and adults.

Donations & Partnerships
How can I support Owasso Character?
You can support Owasso Character through a one-time donation, become a monthly Compassion Partner, or participate through one of our annual partnership opportunities.
What does my donation support?
Donations help Owasso Character provide programs and resources that encourage character throughout the community, including scholarships, Character Trait materials, community recognition, and special events.
Can I make a one-time donation in an amount of my choosing?
Yes. Our online donation option allows you to select the amount you would like to give.
Can I become a monthly supporter?
Yes. Compassion Partners provide ongoing support through a monthly contribution.
Are annual partnership opportunities available for businesses or organizations?
Yes. Several annual partnership levels are available and include different recognition and participation benefits. Visit our Partnerships page for current options.
Will I receive a receipt for my contribution?
A receipt or confirmation is provided through the online payment system when your donation is processed.

Scholarships
Who is eligible to apply for an Owasso Character scholarship?
Scholarships are available to graduating students attending an Owasso high school or living within the boundaries of the Owasso School District who meet the eligibility requirements listed on the Scholarship page.
What does the scholarship recognize?
The scholarship recognizes students who demonstrate strong character through academics, extracurricular activities, leadership, service, and community involvement.
How much is the scholarship?
Owasso Character awards scholarships of up to $5,000 to eligible graduating seniors.
What information is required with the application?
Applicants are asked to provide written responses, letters of recommendation, and other information described in the current scholarship application requirements.

Events & Community Involvement
What is Character Connection?
Character Connection is a monthly opportunity for community members to gather for lunch, conversation, and discussion centered around character and personal growth.
Do I have to be a member to attend Character Connection?
No. Community members are welcome to participate.

How can my business, school, or organization become involved?
There are many ways to participate, including partnerships, Character Trait activities, community events, and sharing character-building resources. Contact the Owasso Character Council to discuss opportunities that fit your organization.
